Family Time (Sort Of)
This year I got to participate in the broadcast from Universal Orlando for Rock the Universe. I usually have to stay in Tampa and run the board but Jamie and I did the broadcast on Saturday this time because Abby was about to have her baby. I took the opportunity to bring the whole family out there with me. And we all had a blast! Only a few moments of discontent between the kids. The biggest excitement was that Maddy was able to walk around and ride the coasters just three months after her lung transplant! How cool is that?!?
It was a little weird because I was worn out and excited all at the same time this weekend. I spent last week at a Disney resort for a radio conference leading right in to RTU. It was an exhausting and reviving experience all at once. A lot like a week long retreat where you are tired from all the activity but excited about what God is doing in your life. I have never been to a radio conference before so I had a lot to learn.
It was an interesting experience and a little contradictory at times. It's weird being in an industry that is both a business and a ministry at the same time. I was continually impressed by the heart of the people I met all week long. It's really hard to sum up in a short time and I am wishing I can come to some profound conclusion about the whole event but it's not really coming out that way. I guess the best way to describe it is many different people coming together to provide quality original music and programming that is Christ centered.
I am still digesting the complete experience but I can say I had a great time. I met a lot of people in person who I have only connected with on the phone, which was great. And I made a few new friends too. I was very touched that so many people came up to me and asked how Maddy is doing. I also got a lot of great new music and won an Apple TV!
As mentioned before Abby had her baby on Sunday so we are moving things around at the station again. This time it's only temporary, until Abby comes back in January. Jamie has bumped up to the morning drive and I am taking over the afternoon drive. Rob is going to cover my mid day shift and Fernando will do nights. It will be interesting, I just hope I can get all my work done, I'm use to being able to run voice tracks and working during my air shift. Thats not possible with traffic and a busy drive time shift. I'm sure I can make due for a few months. LOL
